MENTAL HEALTH & WELLBEING
As an educational professional and community activist, I know how vital the link between access to green space, a physically active lifestyle and mental health are. I have written about the work I have done in the community in this field for sites including the National Education Union, Inside Croydon, Living Streets and have provided comments for articles published in the local press on behalf of Croydon Living Streets Group, such as this article from December 2020.
100 WOMEN IN CYCLING 2020
I was proud to be recognised as one of the '100 Women in Cycling' in 2020. The award was part of the Cycling UK Festival of Women's Cycling 2020 and was for her work promoting and enabling healthy travel to school for families in London. You can read more about the festival and my award on the Women's Festival of Cycling page on the Cycling UK website.
I have written extensively about my experience setting up Southwark's first school street scheme and how other school communities could do the same. This includes an article in the Autumn 2019 edition of London Cyclist which can be accessed via Issuu, a blog article for the Labour Environmental Campaign SERA in 2018, a piece for the National Governance Association member magazine Governing Matters in 2018 and contributing to the Chiswick Calendar article on School Streets in 2020.
CROYDON CYCLE THEATRE
I, with Vanessa Hammick, established Croydon Cycle Theatre was established in 2016 with a Ghost Bike Tour, delivered with the Croydon Cycling Campaign. The events hosted aimed to celebrate the unique cultural heritage of Croydon and the borough's amazing green spaces. You can read about our aims for the project in The Croydonist, our ride to Croydon's twin town Arnhem in the Winter 2017 edition of London Cyclist and about how we marked the centenary of the first women voting in the UK in 2018 on East London Lines.
